It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the official webpage of the Department of Psychological Sciences at the College of Education, Qatar University- whether you are students, faculty members, or community partners. I take great pride in affirming the vital role our department plays in supporting Qatar National Vision 2030 and the mission of Qatar University, through the provision of high-quality academic programs that contribute to preparing distinguished graduates capable of actively shaping the future of the nation and enriching its educational institutions with highly trained and qualified professionals.
The department has achieved remarkable milestones, most notably securing international accreditation for its programs from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Building on this success, the department continues to advance its programs, introduce new specializations, and pursue international accreditation in alignment with the needs of the local and regional community.
Our department offers internationally accredited programs that emphasize active learning and hands-on experiences, aimed at developing students' skills in scientific research, self-directed learning, leadership, and innovation, while reinforcing the principle of lifelong learning and a strong commitment to ethical and social responsibility. At the graduate level, the department offers a Master's program in Special Education, designed to prepare specialists capable of teaching students with mild, moderate, and severe disabilities. At the diploma level, we offer a Diploma in Special Education and a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. At the undergraduate level, the department offers a Bachelor of Education in Special Education with three main tracks: School-Based Special Education, Early Childhood Special Education, and Severe and Profound Disabilities. Furthermore, the department is working toward introducing a Bachelor's program in Early Childhood Education in collaboration with the Department of Educational Sciences, and a Master's program in Psychological and Family Counseling in partnership with the College of Arts and Sciences.
In line with the mission of the College of Education, the department is committed to fostering a stimulating and supportive learning environment that enables students to achieve their professional and personal aspirations through knowledge-sharing, collaborative experiences, and diverse academic and social activities. In addition, the department places strong emphasis on advancing research by identifying priorities closely connected to applied practice, while keeping pace with the rapid technological advancements of the digital age. We are also dedicated to building effective community partnerships with governmental institutions, private centers, and schools, thereby enhancing integration with societal needs and responding to emerging challenges.
Once again, I warmly welcome you to our department's webpage, and I wish you a fruitful browsing experience. I invite you all to join us together on our journey toward excellence and innovation.
