Shaikh Faleh bin Nasser Al Thani Collection

The collection of Sheikh Faleh bin Nasser Al Thani at the Qatar University Library contains rare books and valuable manuscripts. It contributes to preserving cultural heritage for the future and enriches the broader community's access to knowledge and history. Most of these items were obtained through a donation from Sheikh Faleh bin Nasser Al Thani.

Sheikh Faleh was born in Doha in the late 18th century and was educated by most of the sheikhs of Qatar, especially Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Manaa, as well as sheikhs and scholars from Saudi Arabia. Throughout his life, he remained a jurist and a researcher of manuscripts and books in various fields and subjects. He was passionate about rare books and scientific research and often personally worked on organizing, and classifying his books, reflecting a knowledgeable familiarity with heritage literature.

Sheikh Faleh gifted these references, valuable books, manuscripts, precious prints, and periodicals to mosques, centres of knowledge, cultural centres, and universities, including Qatar University, in the 1970s. Sheikh Faleh passed away in Doha on Friday, 18 October 1985.
