Ibn Khaldon Center for Humanities and Social Sciences is a research center devoted to re-examining the theoretical frameworks of humanities and social sciences with a particular focus on issues related to the Arab world. It established in May 2018. Generously supported by the Office of VP for Research and Graduate Studies at Qatar University, the center devoted to interdisciplinary research in humanities and social sciences, and guided by community engagement, Ibn Khaldon Center extensively sought to become a free and reliable forum for original intellectual initiatives in the Arab world and beyond.
Why the name Ibn Khaldon?
Inspired by the fourteenth-century social theorist Abd al-Rahmān Ibn Khaldon (723-808 A.D/1332-1406 A.H), The Centre’s research agenda spans a wide range of areas of importance within the Humanities and Social Sciences with a core mission to bridge the gap between the theoretical research and actual needs of Arab societies in collaboration with leading institutions and researchers locally, regionally, and internationally, who share the Center’s intellectual concerns and interests.
