As QU graduates its 46th cohort of graduates, the university continues to chronicle a long history spanning decades in which it contributes heavily to Qatar’s development and prosperity, through boosting the labor market with qualified graduates.

In his speech on this occasion, President of QU Dr. Hassan bin Rashid Al-Derham said, “Today, we celebrate the 46th graduation, since the establishment of Qatar University in 1977, where we graduate a new cohort of 3913 students, to join the ranks of the over 64,000 graduates before them, and who had the honor of contributing to the construction and development of this dear country.”

He adds, “Qatar University remains the vessel of development and renaissance for society in general, and for Qatari women in particular. The university has provided the Qatari state and society with consecutive groups of outstanding female graduates who participated and shared with their male brothers in many important fields, in order to achieve the comprehensive development and renaissance of our dear country, Qatar.”

“Qatar University recognizes its responsibility as the national university and its role as a major source for supplying the job market with the necessary competencies to achieve the state's development plans and as a home of expertise that benefits all sectors of the state and society. In this context, Qatar University’s previously implemented transformational strategy was a success, leading the University to achieve most of its desired goals. Currently, the University is on the verge of approving the university's strategic plan for the next phase, in line with the Third National Development Strategy (2023-2030).”

Dr. Al-Derham continues, “Qatar University has achieved a lot and has positioned itself among the most elite universities in the world. Thanks to Allah (SWT), and with the continuous support of the wise government, and the close follow-up of the Board of Regents, the university occupies an advanced position among the best universities in the world. According to the QS World University Rankings, the university has been ranked 208th in the world and many colleges and programs received their accreditation from prestigious accreditation agencies around the world, proving that what Qatar University offers is no different than what is offered by the most prestigious international universities. In addition, this year the University received the highest level of institutional accreditation, from WSCUC, Senior College and University Commission, one of the world's leading academic accreditation institutions.”

Addressing the graduating Class of 2023, Dr. Hassan Al-Derham said, “Dear graduates, Qatar University is not merely a passing stage in your career, that ends with the culmination of study and graduation, but it is the starting point and reference to which the graduate returns whenever she needs more knowledge. The university, with its professors and all its sectors, spare no effort in serving you with more science and knowledge.”

“Today, as we celebrate the success of our daughters and their graduation, we must pay homage and respect to the parents, and we extend our thanks and congratulations to all of them. I also cannot fail to mention the faculty members of Qatar University, who have provided their knowledge and experience to build a new generation of women that our country needs.”

“Graduates, today you are on the threshold of a milestone; yesterday you were students in the university halls, and today you are entering professional life, where you will contribute to building your country and your nation. So, my dear daughters, you should always remember your responsibilities before Allah (SWT), towards your homeland, and HH The Amir. Work; give back; and serve this country, which has given you so much, and may you live up to your expectations.”
